Week 5

On Thursday we made marshmallow kebabs and then wrote about them on our whiteboards.
We watched the Senior children at Swimming Sports.  Remember to come and watch us next Tuesday for our Swimming Celebration.

Today we went out with the large balls and with a partner we practised bouncing and catching. We had lots of fun.

Last week, on Friday, we all dressed in Red for Heart Foundation Day! The school raised $396!!

We had a special swimming instructor on Tuesday!  Our swimming has improved so much!

We had fun with noodles this week, as we focused on letter "n" and enjoyed lots of new activities.  Next week we will focus on letter "m"!

Welcome back to Mrs Wilson.  It is lovely to see her and we are pleased she can move her arm a bit!
New Children: Welcome to Zeke who has started in Pikopiko this week!
On Thursday we  cooked and ate rice!

One of our chrysalis's hatched and we watched as its wings unfold. The caterpillar pumps the fluid out of its body and into the wings. After lunch we let it go!

Welcome to Pikopiko 2016

Hi and welcome back!  A special welcome to the new children who have started in Pikopiko this year!  We have had a busy 2 weeks settling in - but sadly without Mrs Wilson! Thanks to Miss Scoular for her fabulous work while Mrs Wilson has been away!

We have been enjoying the weather and loving swimming in the pool.

All of our monarch caterpillars have changed into chrysalises.  It will be so exciting to see a butterfly emerge... we can't wait!

End of year party and Merry Christmas!

We are very nearly at the end of the year now and today was our chance to have some fun and celebrate together with Kowhai. What an awesome afternoon we had!! We were fortunate to be gifted some money from Subway so we had the fantastic surprise of the Mr Whippy truck showing up at our school! Yum yum! We also had the very talented Magenta along to do some fabulous face painting for everyone - we had flowers, dolphins, rainbows, moustaches, frozen crowns and more! Everyone also had a chance to hop on their scooters and had a blast zooming around the school.

Tomorrow is the very last morning of Pikopiko for 2015 so we'd like to take this chance to thank you all so much for being a wonderful supportive family community, and for being active readers and commenters on our blog. We've loved sharing our learning and it is so wonderful to get responses from home. We've all had an awesome year! We hope you all have a safe and happy holiday and a very merry Christmas. We're all excited for the Pikopiko and Kowhai adventures we'll have next year :) Happy holidays team!

A Wet and Soggy Day! And a few reminders...

Well today didn't go quite as planned! The weather was not kind to us and we had to change plans a little. The first part of the trip was fantastic - we got to the cathedral and everybody sang BEAUTIFULLY! Well done Pikopiko and Kowhai, you were awesome - especially in our Christmas is Coming round! The people at the cathedral said you did a lovely job as well so great work.
Unfortunately after that along came the rain! It started with a few sprinkles then once we were at the gardens eating our lunch it started really raining hard. So we had to give up and come back to school! That was a bit of a shame but we had a nice relaxing afternoon here. Thank you so much to all the adults who came along today we still had a really fun morning :)

Just a few reminders for the next two days. Firstly, you may have seen the email from Jude about missing shirts and unfortunately some still have not been reunited with their owners. If you have the wrong shirt after our prizegiving yesterday please bring it back so that they're with the right people before the holidays :)

Tomorrow Pikopiko and Kowhai are having a special end of year party after lunch. Part of that will be wheels time in the afternoon so you can bring along your scooter if you like! There will also be a special surprise :)

Finally tomorrow morning we have special end of year hot chocolates on offer from our barista team, so bring along $2 if you would like to order one.

See you tomorrow!

End of Year Prizegiving

Things are winding up in Pikopiko now as we are into our very last week of school. We have had lots of exciting things going on as we celebrate the awesome year we've had together. Today was very special as we had our final prizegiving and Christmas concert. We shared three special songs, a movie about our reflections on the year, and of course we gave out some special awards. What an amazing job you all did Pikopiko! You sang and danced beautifully and were wonderful on stage. Congratulations to the children that received awards, you have worked so hard, and well done to everyone in the team we are super proud of you all.

Tomorrow is another special day as we head in to the Cathedral to perform our songs with Kowhai. We are then heading from there to the Botanical Gardens for lunch, a play in the playground and a swim in the pool. Don't forget your togs and towel, your carseat, a big lunch, a warm sweatshirt and an unwrapped gift to donate to the City Mission. Put some sunscreen on before school! If you've put your name down to help we definitely want you along and will see you about 10.20 tomorrow morning.
