Week 3 Term 4

We hope everyone had a lovely Labour Weekend!
Welcome to Ebony who joined Pikopiko this week.

On Tuesday the children in Pikopiko filled up the marble jar and as a reward were able to have a play at the Domain! We also stayed to watch the Senior children have a running race with some of the teachers. We also enjoyed being able to watch the Seniors compete in athletics through out the day.

On Thursday our 'ch' activity was to change a face. We drew a face shape onto a piece of paper and then added lots of different features - have a look at our crazy changed faces!!

Remember to dress up on Monday! We are looking forward to seeing all of your wonderful costumes!

Also a quick reminder that it is the Gala next Friday night (4th November). Please continue to bring your contributions to the office over the coming week.

Have a great weekend!

Karen, Joc and Hannah

Week 2 Term 4

Welcome to Elyssa who started in Pikopiko this week!

On Wednesday afternoon we started our Calendar Art! We collaged the first letter of our name using small pieces of newspaper. Look out for a notice telling you how you can order you child's calendar!

On Thursday morning we had Heathcote Valley Preschool come and visit in the Volcano.
We read our big book 'The King's Cake', made royal crowns and decorated our own mini cakes.
It was great to have the Preschool visit and we look forward to seeing them next time!!

On Thursday afternoon we went were invited to Pohutukawa, Kauri and Kahikatea's learning celebration all to do with 'Our Planet'. It was wonderful to see all of the amazing work that these children had done over the past few days.

On Friday we had an amazing Discovery Time! The children had lots of fun dressing up, playing in a band, putting on a puppet show, playing football outside, dancing and colouring in pictures to put on Quiver.

Term 4 Week 1

Welcome back to school Pikopiko families!

We have enjoyed getting back to routines this week.  In the afternoon, at Action Stations, we have learnt a card game called Skipbo.  We like marble run and Dora Duplo.

Some of us have been reading about The Three Billy Goats Gruff.  We retold the story and made a picture. We talked to the "big" children and changed the characters of the story.  One of our changed stories had three dinosaurs crossing the bridge with a rooster jumping out saying "Cock-a-Doodle-Do!"

Today Nathaniel bought 5 baby chickens to school. They were nine days old and loved jumping onto the mother hen's back!
