Tall Learner Art and Kapahaka Performance

This morning I was so excited to come into the Volcano and see our fabulous Tall Learner artworks up on the wall! There are a couple of people to finish theirs off but most are done and they look AMAZING! Wonderful work Pikopiko. Make sure you come in and see them on the wall :)

Speaking of Tall Learners, congratulations to Ava and Josh who were our Pikopiko Tall Learners in assembly today. Well done - you both received blue bands for your awesome thinking skills :) Keep up the great work!

Soon the senior kapahaka will be performing in the Cultural Festival so they invited the junior school and the preschool to the hall to watch their wonderful performance. It was great to have our preschool friends along and the big kids did a fabulous job! They are going to be amazing on stage :)
Then we also got the opportunity to perform our kapahaka songs to the senior kapahaka and the preschoolers. We were awesome as well! Great job everyone!

Have a wonderful weekend everybody, we'll see you back on Monday morning :)

Jelly in the Valley!

We all enjoyed eating jelly to finish off the day as part of our learning about the letter 'J'. The Volcano kids made orange jelly, the Forest made green and just to keep things exciting the Ocean kids made traffic light jelly. It was a great treat for us all at the end of another super busy day in Pikopiko!

Windy Wednesday!

We always start the day with a story all together in Pikopiko and today we had a very special one to read! After our trip yesterday one of our friends had written their own book all about life 100 years ago. How fantastic! We shared it with the class and remembered lots of good facts that we had learned. It is in the Forest bookshelf now if you would like to read it yourself :)

This morning we had the Heathcote Valley pre-schoolers visit us. They joined in our phonics session and all did awesome work listening to and recording sounds. Our letter of the week is 'Jj' and Seth brought some yummy jet plane lollies along for our alphabet box which we all enjoyed while we practiced writing on our whiteboards. We love having you all visit us every second Wednesday and we look forward to having some of you at school full time very soon.

We all made a jack-in-the-box. We had to fold the coloured paper and cut out the shapes carefully. It was a big job but you all got there. Well done!

Ferrymead!

What an amazing day we had today! We had beautiful weather to head down to Ferrymead and do lots of learning about what it was like to live 100 years ago. We experienced lots of different activities - we went to the General Store, we went to school, did some housework (no washing machines!), played some old fashioned games and got to ride the tram! Everyone had heaps of fun. A big thank you to all the adults who came along with us, and to Henry's mum and dad who are part of the fabulous staff down at Ferrymead and helped give us such a great day :)

Here's a selection of some of the great photos, we'll have some up around the room as well.

What a fantastic time we had :)

A wee reminder - if you were supposed to have ukulele today the lessons were postponed until tomorrow, so bring your ukulele to school in the morning and you'll have your lesson. Also we will have PMP again tomorrow at 2.15 so helpers would be awesome :)
