Busy Times in the Volcano

The New Shed Arrives!
In the holidays we found a new second hand shed for the Junior School. It is going to sit just outside the Volcano and will be great for storing lots of our extra Discovery Time equipment. Today Brett drove to Governors Bay to pick it up on the school trailer. It was quite big on the trailer but he managed to get it safely back to Heathcote Valley. The Volcano kids went to check it out. It looks awesome and we thought Brett looked pretty smart too with his good clothes on for school photos.

Seth's Big Box!
In the holidays Seth worked on a project to decorate a big box for the Volcano. We are going to use it to store our big books in. He told us that first he painted the box red and green and then he used a black marker to draw all sorts of things. We spied trains, volcanoes, pterodactyls, port holes on a ship and lots more. Great work Seth - we love the box and will start using it soon.

Dressing Up Fun
In the Volcano there is a dress up box for all the Pikopiko kids to explore. We had fun checking the costumes out and then we wrote some stories. For some of us this was our first go at storywriting as we have just started school this week.

I am a dancing mermaid.

I am Seth the tiger.

I am a fluttering butterfly.

I am a jumping leopard.

I am a great firefighter.

I am a kind pirate.

S is for spiders and a spider web!!!
This week our letter of the week is S. We all made spiders and then worked together with Granny Maria (Mrs Fowler's Mum) to make a very cool spider's web. We had made lots of spiders to spin thread for the web and then Hele said, "We need some flies." What a great idea that was and so now we will try and make some!

  1. Hello Volcano kids
Your Volcano Room looks fantastic! What great work on making a spider web with all of those spiders. There are some awesome dress ups in your room. I'm sure it will help you to come up with even more marvellous stories. Seth had great fun decorating the box and has lots of stories about what is going on. Everyone has worked so hard this week. Well done guys!
