Blog Safety Update

Below is a copy of the same information you received in hard copy this afternoon :) This information, plus our initial set up information, will be put in a separate page on the blog so you can refer to it easily. Scroll down further for today's post!

Thank you to all the families who have already viewed and been involved with the blog. It was so exciting to have some comments on our first day and the children are already loving seeing themselves on the big screen.
We’ve had some great feedback so far and it is wonderful to have the blog so well received. There has also, however, been a little discussion around cyber safety. We just wanted to clarify our blog policy and what this means for posts and comments.

  • ·      Photos and videos of the children will be published.
  • ·      First names will occasionally be referenced.
  • ·      Photos and names will NOT be used directly together in order to ensure children are not identified online.
  • ·      It is important to be aware of this when commenting if a child has been singled out in a post (eg. the Tall Learner). However you can absolutely use your child’s name in a general comment (eg. Bobby loved the activity today, or Bobby tried some more counting at home etc.)
  • ·      All comments are sent to Sophie to be checked before they are published. Just be aware that they may have to be declined if your comment doesn’t meet these safety guidelines.

The blog is going to be our primary means of communication this year in the Pikopiko team and we want it to be a fun, enjoyable and safe way for the children to share their learning. It is so wonderful for them to have comments from home so please do come and ask if you need clarification on any of the above.
