We had a very exciting afternoon in Pikopiko today. For our inquiry about Living in the Past we are planning to make little videos about what we've learned. So today we had our first go at using the iPads and learning how to film each other. We learned what buttons we needed to press and how to hold the iPad still, as well as tips like making sure we spoke clearly and kept the camera pointed at the actors! We were very impressed with how everyone went! You all followed instructions really well. Each group acted out the scene of friends inviting each other for a playdate. Here we are in action, with a few examples of our videos below! We also did a good job of giving each other feedback about what went well and how we could improve.
We also need to congratulate someone in our class - we have a Skoolbo Super Champ!! You get this trophy when you reach 10,000 points - wow well done! It will live in Pikopiko now for a little while :)
Finally a couple of notices and reminders. Today a letter went home about our new sharing roster. This will start this week, so if your child is on the Thursday or Friday group for weeks 4,6 and 8 they'll need to be ready to go. We are looking forward to hearing your little talks :)
Coming up on the 25th August is the Bays Cluster Cultural Festival, which our Junior Kapahaka is performing at. You will get more information about this as we get closer, however we ask that for this performance the children wear a simple kapahaka 'uniform'. Girls will need to wear a plain white t-shirt and black shorts, and boys a plain black t-shirt and black shorts. It would be great if you could have this ready in advance of our performance.
Weaving Project
This term in art we are working with fabric and fibre and would like to have a try at weaving on a simple loom. We are planning to use meat trays to make a basic loom and would be very grateful if you could save any you may have and send them along to Pikopiko. The ones that have slightly more depth to them are going to be easiest for little hands to work on. Please see the picture below or come and ask one of us if you would like to see the ones we are needing. Many thanks for your help.
looks like you are having lots of fun pikopiko! congrats skoolbo champ, you've worked really hard for this :)
